Sony announces Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale

In an announcement that probably won"t surprise anyone that follows Sony Playstation news, the company today announced its newest exclusive title, Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale. The fighting game, in development at SuperBot Entertainment, is scheduled for release later this year, although a more specific release date has not been revealed.

The game will feature appearances from many of Sony"s franchise characters, such as Kratos of God of War, Sweet Tooth of Twisted Metal, Mael Radec of Killzone, and Sly Cooper. Characters from leading third-party games will also be included, although none have been revealed at this time. According to a post announcing Playstation All-Stars on the official Playstation blog, the game will feature "a number of cool game modes for both single and multiplayer, with a focus on online play which features a robust tournament mode."

Similar to Nintendo"s exclusive Super Smash Bros. franchise, characters in Playstation All-Stars will each have their own exclusive special attacks. The title will also feature themed stages, taking players back to well-known environments previously seen in exclusive Playstation titles. Playstation All-Stars will feature gameplay allowing to four simultaneous users.

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale is SuperBot"s first title. The studio was founded in 2009 and serves as an exclusive developer for Sony Computer Entertainment America. According to the post at the Playstation blog, SuperBot will be displaying Playstation All-Stars at E3 in June.
