Sony decides to withdraw "Shock and Awe" trademark.

Sony Computer Entertainment America has withdrawn its application to trademark the term "Shock and Awe" for the titling of a videogame, its Japanese parent company announced today. According to the brief announcement, Sony made the decision in order to avoid offending the sensitivities of those involved in the war in Iraq.

The game which Sony may or may not have planned to give that title is likely still in development, of course -- perhaps we"ll see it under a different name sometime in the future.
