Sony reveals new colors for PS5 console covers and controllers, coming next month

Over a year after the PlayStation 5"s reveal, Sony has finally announced new colors for console covers. The original model just came in white, although owners could take off the covers and replace them with third-party ones, such as those made by dbrand. This move was not endorsed by Sony, who threatened dbrand with lawsuits. That said, PS5 owners who want to personalize their gaming hardware will be pleased to know that Sony has now announced some new colors for its PS5 accessories.

As can be seen above, Sony has revealed five new colors for its gaming hardware. Going from left to right, these are Cosmic Red, Starlight Blue, Galactic Purple, Nova Pink, and Midnight Black. All of the console colors have their accompanying, matching DualSense controllers too. That said, the Cosmic Red and Midnight Black DualSense controllers are not new, and were actually revealed back in May.

The DualSense controllers will be available globally from January 2022. Cosmic Red and Midnight Black console covers will be available in select countries at the same time, but the other three variants will be available during the first half of 2022. Sony has noted that it will expand availability of the accessories to more countries throughout the course of the year. Console covers will cost $54.99 while DualSense will carry a price tag of $74.99.
