The PlayStation maker had a hardware announcement to make during its State of Play Japan presentation today, but it wasn"t a new console or anything. Instead, Sony revealed a gaming monitor designed by PlayStation, and it touts some impressive features, including a designated hook to charge a DualSense controller.
The official name of the monitor seems to be the "27” Gaming Monitor with DualSense Charging Hook". As the descriptive name already reveals the size of the monitor, let"s get to the rest of the specifications.
The monitor has a 2560 x 1440 resolution display with HDR and VRR support. Its refresh rate goes up to 240 Hz as well. However, on PlayStation 5 consoles, this will only go up to 120 Hz. Of course, the aforementioned hook lets players charge DualSense or DualSense Edge wireless controllers
Of course, Sony only mentions PlayStation 5 consoles, PCs, and Mac devices as officially supported for the monitor, but as with any monitor, hardware with HDMI support should work fine with this, including Xbox consoles.
Here are all the ports and external features:
- Two HDMI IN ports (ver 2.1) and one DisplayPort IN port (ver 1.4) for compatibility with PS5, PC, Mac, or other devices
- HDMI IN port (ver 2.1) supports up to 2560×1440, 240Hz, FRL, VRR; DisplayPort IN port (ver 1.4) supports up to 2560×1440, 240Hz, DSC
- Two USB Type-A and one USB Type-C port that can be used with PlayStation Link Adapters or other devices
- Built-in stereo speaker and 3.5mm audio output
- Compatibility with select VESA mounting systems for a more flexible display setup
The new 27” Gaming Monitor with DualSense Charging Hook from Sony is releasing sometime in 2026 across the U.S. and Japan. Pricing details have not been announced just yet.
