Shortly after introducing improved lyrics with offline support, Spotify announced new features for those who use the platform for audiobooks, a feature that was launched in 2022. Spotify partnered with Bookshop.org to sell paper books so that you can jump from an audiobook to a physical one. And when you want to get back, a new feature in the app will help you sync your current page to the audio version.

With help of Bookshop.org, those listening to audiobooks can purchase paper books right in the Spotify app. This option will launch later this Spring in the US and UK, making it easier for you to turn audiobooks into physical books that you can own without relying on your subscription.

Besides allowing you to switch from digital audio format to physical paper, Spotify is making it easier to keep both in sync with the new Page Match feature. Once you are done reading on paper and want to move to audio, Spotify lets you sync the current page to audio and continue where you left off. Spotify says that "age Match is an industry-first feature that lets you move between physical books or e-books and their audiobook counterparts with just a quick scan."

To sync your paper book to audiobook, all you have to do is open the Spotify app, find what you are currently reading, tap the Page Match button, scan the page, and press play. Page Match will be available later this month on iOS and Android for English-language titles.

Here is what Owen Smith, Spotify"s Global Head of Audiobooks, said about the update:

Since launching Audiobooks in Premium, we’ve seen that when books are easier to discover and enjoy, demand grows, making Spotify a real growth engine for the publishing industry and changing how people find their next great read. Now we’re extending Spotify’s discovery and engagement strengths across both audio and physical formats, so authors can build deeper connections with their audiences and books can follow readers wherever they go.
