Spotify is currently facing outages across the globe [Update]

Music streaming service Spotify is experiencing an outage that is affecting users across the world. A quick look at Downdetector shows that the issue is widespread, with reports beginning in the last hour and pouring in majorly from the U.S. and Europe, in addition to other regions.

The issue prevents users from searching for songs or playing most songs that weren’t recently played or cached to the device. Searching for songs serves a "Coundn’t load this page" error. Some reports suggest that users are only able to play music for a few seconds before the app ceases to stream any songs.

Spotify has acknowledged the outage on Twitter and suggests that it is investigating the issue. Additionally, the app seems to be working for some users via smart speakers like Sonos, so it is possible that the problems are only related to streaming through mobile or desktop apps.

We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out! We’ll keep you posted.

In our testing, the search has been a hit and miss, with some searches serving results, while others drawing an error. We will keep an eye on the status and update the story with more information when available.

Update: Spotify has restored the service and users should now be able to stream music without any problems. It is possible that the fix will take a while to propagate across the globe, so the service might not be live for all users right away.

Good news! Everything is good to go and looking happy. Still having issues? Give @SpotifyCares a tweet.
