It was less than a year ago that Cloud Imperium Games delivered a new solar system to its sci-fi space RPG Star Citizen in the form of Pyro. Already, a third one has been introduced. The Alpha 4.4 update has now been pushed to all backers of the crowd-funded experience, and it includes the Nyx star system for players to explore and do missions in the persistent universe. Check out the new trailer above showcasing the system.
While the system"s three planets are inhabitable, the dense asteroid belt surrounding the star is packed with mining locations and abandoned sites for players to explore. It"s inside of this Glaciem Ring that players will also find the asteroid Delamar, marking the return of the "free-town" Levski landing zone.
"The long awaited return of Delamar and Levski is here with the same nostalgic look and feel of the location with many new visual and location improvements," says the developer, describing the returning location. "Extensive audio inclusions for Levski and Nyx have been included in 4.4.0 with new soundscapes and musical scores while exploring the system."
Cloud Imperium Games has enabled jump points at the edges of both the Stanton and Pyro systems for players to use, which will carry them towards the new system. However, it reminded players that as only Pyro is supposed to be a neighbor star to Nyx, the Stanton shortcut is only a placeholder for ease of use reasons.
"This system will be accessible as a new home location if desired but we fully recommend players not devoid themselves of the journey to reach Nyx for their first time seeing it by jumping into the system from one of the 2 new jump gates," adds the studio.
Brand-new missions and operations have been introduced alongside the new system too. This includes PvE missions involving Vanduul-Tech Smugglers, interstellar hauling missions that take players between systems, and fresh variants of classic missions that now take place inside the Nyx system.
