StarCraft II and Battle.net 2.0 betas a few months away

Kotaku is reporting that the first StarCraft beta, as well as the first beta for the next-gen Battle.net service, provided by Blizzard Entertainment, is arriving in "the next few months."

The word comes from Blizzard"s own COO, Paul Sams, but failed to specify anything closer than "the next few months" as an ETA for the two eagerly-anticipated betas.

It isn"t known what changes will be made to the Battle.net service, but more details will come to light closer to the time. The first entry to the StarCraft series, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, is expected to hit shelves this year. StarCraft II will have its campaigns released in three separate iterations, as they will be quite large.

StarCraft II, as per usual with Blizzard, will be available on both Mac and PC, and has been in development since 2003.
