The Epic Games Store"s daily freebie offer continues. As part of the holiday promotion, PC gamers can now claim a copy of Blood West to keep. So far, the store has given away Hogwarts Legacy, Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel, and Eternights, with freebies slated to land every day through the new year.
Released in 2023 by developer Hyperstrange, Blood West is a stealth shooter with immersive sim elements that has players jumping into a supernatural world. The single-player title"s gameplay has been inspired by titles like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Hunt: Showdown, and the classic Thief series. Even the voice behind master thief Garrett is performing the voice of the Blood West protagonist.
While going in with guns blazing is an option, the title rewards players that take a careful approach to situations. This involves scouting locations and figuring out optimal ways to enter and take out enemies, all without raising an alarm.
The studio also touts three massive maps with 20 hours of gameplay on average, nonlinear environments with plenty of secrets, fully voiced NPCs to be allies with, a large amount of weapons, skill-based character progression, and other elements.
"The Barren Lands present the player with a nightmarish, twisted vision of the Wild West legends," says the developer, describing the supernatural setting. "The curse that has befallen the realm has corrupted every living thing, defiled the land itself, while summoning restless spirits and dark entities. In this mixture of gunslinger pulp and Lovecraftian horror, dark occult magick presents just as much of a threat as sudden lead poisoning."
Blood West is free to claim on the Epic Games Store for the next 24 hours. As for what will be available next time, once again, Epic Games is keeping its cards close to its chest. The upcoming mystery freebie will reveal itself and unlock for all PC gamers at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET, December 21.
