Another week has passed, and the Epic Games Store has returned with a brand-new freebie to claim. PC gamers can now jump in and collect Nightingale, the 2024-released early access experience from developer Inflexion Games. As always, you have seven days to add the latest indie game permanently to your Epic Games Store library.
Nightingale is a survival crafting experience that has players exploring a Gaslamp fantasy world. Per the developer, this is a curious combo that blends Victorian aesthetics with fae magic and steampunk elements. The role that players take in this cooperative multiplayer-supported title is that of a Realmwalker, a group of stranded travelers who must navigate a network of portals after Earth suffers a collapse.
"Venture freely through vast, open-world realms where breathtaking visuals immerse you in a mystical Gaslamp Fantasy universe," describes the developer. "Uncover the abandoned remnants of past Realmwalker expeditions, delve into the enigmatic architecture of the Fae, and explore the perilous depths of Sites of Power dungeons and forsaken ruins. With each portal you cross, you"ll find beauty and danger intertwined, waiting to be discovered."
Each of these portals offers procedurally generated lands to explore with various biomes. These can be lush forests, hostile deserts, corrupted wastelands, and other variants, each coming with its own types of unique resources, twisted creatures to defeat, and puzzle elements to solve. Like with other games in the genre, the exploration and survival elements have players gathering food and water, crafting tools, and building elaborate shelters. There are even iconic NPCs like Victor Frankenstein or Mr. Hyde that offer quests to progress the storyline.
The Nightingale giveaway on the Epic Games Store is live right now, and it will last until October 9. While not a free game itself, Epic is also offering a $100 worth bundle of goodies for the casual free-to-play idle RPG Firestone Online, with this offer also ending on the same day.
