System Shock 2 finally released as digital download on GoG.com

System Shock 2, the 1999 sequel to the classic sci-fi RPG from developer Looking Glass, was an immediate critical hit for Looking Glass and its co-developer Irrational Games. The deep gameplay combined with a very creepy theme made the game not just better than the original but it became one of the best PC games of all time.

Now, GoG.com is the only current place where you can purchase a legal digital download version of System Shock 2.  The game is currently priced at $9.99 and has a ton of free extras, including the game"s soundtrack, the original game design pitch document, digital artwork, a old radio interview with Irrational Games co-founder Ken Levine and more.

While System Shock and System Shock 2 were both published by EA, which also held the trademarks, the copyrights to System Shock 2 belonged to Looking Glass until they went under a few years later. Rock Paper Shotgun reports that a new company called Night Dive managed to secure the rights to the digital download version of the game and offered it to GoG.com to publish, where it was named as the number one classic game that its users wanted to see added to its library.
