Teams is a core service offering by Microsoft that aims to provide online communication and collaboration environments, especially in remote and hybrid setups. Recently, the Redmond tech firm announced that the software is finally getting meeting recording capabilities for Microsoft 365 personal users, and now, it has revealed yet another enhancement.
Teams for macOS can now leverage the screen and window sharing experience powered by the native picker experience available in the operating system. Microsoft previously talked about this UX at its Ignite 2025 conference last month.
The Redmond tech giant believes that offering this native UX will allow a "more polished, welcoming, and intuitive experience" that is also more integrated with macOS, so it will increase the overall security of the screen-sharing experience and make it more streamlined too.
It is worth noting that this native picker is disabled by default, and users must explicitly enable it through Teams" settings by navigating to Settings and more > Settings > General. After that, locate the Screen sharing section, and select the Use macOS content sharing radio button - without having to restart Teams. Now, you"ll be able to use the native picker provided by macOS when you opt to share your screen. That said, do keep in mind that a known limitation of this UX is that it does not allow giving or taking control of the screen.
This capability is currently available only as a preview, so you must be a Mac customer enrolled in the Teams Public Preview or Microsoft 365 Targeted release program. For the former, IT admins must toggle on Show preview features in their update policy, while for the latter, they should navigate to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and give access to select people or their entire organization. You can file feedback to Microsoft directly from within the Teams app.
