The Division 2 is getting an Assassin's Creed crossover, but it has a time limit

The Division 2 has now been out for seven years, and it doesn"t look like Ubisoft has plans to stop its updates to the action RPG anytime soon. Today, it announced a crossover event hitting the game, and it"s the company"s own Assassin"s Creed franchise that"s incoming. This is landing just weeks after the Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora crossover event.

The crossover is bringing some iconic content from the franchise"s classics over, letting players don the attire of fan-favorite characters Ezio Auditore and Edward Kenway from Assassin"s Creed 2 and Assassin"s Creed 4: Black Flag, respectively. There are also items like exclusive weapon skins, a backpack trophy, and arm patches up for grabs as part of the event too.

While the new cosmetics cannot be bought outright, Ubisoft is letting players earn these rewards via its latest Event Pass, which has both free and paid tracks.

"Step into the Brotherhood with The Division 2 x Assassin’s Creed collaboration," says Ubisoft about the update. "Follow the legacy of Ezio and Edward, and earn exclusive themed rewards as you master the shadows."

This isn"t a permanent addition to the title, however. The collaboration event is running from January 29 through February 10. The update is now live across PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and streaming services.

Interestingly, this is a crossover between two franchises that Ubisoft has plans for in the future. Both The Division and Assassin"s Creed have fresh installments incoming. The Division 3 is currently in development at Massive Entertainment, while Assassin"s Creed is slated to receive an RPG entry, codenamed Hexe, set during the witch trials. Recently, Julian Gerighty, the co-director behind The Division franchise, left the studio. As the company goes through some major internal shakeups, Ubisoft has called on players to not be worried about the franchise"s future.
