This 16-core Ryzen processor is now available for just $275

AMD is currently offering its 16-core monster of a processor at a very enticing price. While not the latest-gen, the Ryzen 9 5950X remains an extremely fast and capable chip for modern computing and gaming. Right now, you can get it for as little as $247.99 on Amazon.

The Ryzen 9 5950X is the ultimate processor for those who want to squeeze every drop of performance from the AM4 platform. This Zen3-based chip has 16 cores and 32 threads operating at a max boost speed of 4.9 GHz. The processor is unlocked, so if you have capable cooling, you can push it even higher.

The Ryzen 9 5950X has 64MB of level-three cache (L3) and the default TDP of 105W. It supports PCIe Gen4 for modern graphics cards, fast SSDs, and DDR4-3200 MT/s memory. Note that the processor has no built-in graphics, so you need a discrete graphics card to make it work. Cooling is also not included.

Finally, if you consider the Ryzen 9 5950X, which, at this price, is a very tempting choice, make sure your motherboard can handle such a powerful processor and has a decent power delivery system. AMD says that this chip works best with a liquid cooler, but a beefy air cooler should also keep the processor"s temperature under control.

Of course, the Ryzen 9 5950X is a pretty much dead end for the nearly ten-year-old AM4 platform, but if swapping motherboard and memory is currently not an option, it will be the ultimate upgrade that will keep your computer relevant and powerful for years.
