Upgrade your NAS with 12 TB WD Red Plus hard drives now available at the lowest price

During the discount season, Western Digital is offering some of its hard drives at the lowest prices ever. The 12TB WD Red Plus Internal Hard Drive is now available for only $199.99, saving you 29% on this spacious HDD.

The 12TB WD Red Plus is a 3.5-inch SATA HDD designed specifically for network-attached storage (NAS) systems with up to 8 bays. It uses conventional magnetic recording (CMR) technology and operates at 7200 RPM, with a 512MB cache and a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface.

This drive is rated for a workload of up to 180TB, and unlike typical hard drives, it is supposed to run 24/7 thanks to CMR, which makes it a good option for home NAS setups or small businesses. It features Western Digital’s NASware firmware, which optimizes compatibility and performance in multi-drive systems. Additionally, the 12 WD Red Plus drive is filled with helium to reduce friction and enable higher capacity and lower power consumption.

As for reliability, Western Digital promises a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 1 million hours and a load/unload cycle rating of 600,000. Additional safety and reliability features include dual-plane balance control and rotational vibration (RV) sensors, a crucial part for NAS, where vibrations are higher due to the larger size of active drives. Finally, the 12 TB WD Red Plus includes a limited three-year warranty.
