Verizon unveils Yahoo Mobile wireless service for $39.99 per month

Verizon launched today a new phone service that relies on its network, but with Yahoo"s branding. The company says Yahoo Mobile is its first phone plan with unlimited data offering, available to customers in the U.S. starting today for $39.99 per month.

The phone service comes with a capped mobile hotspot of up to five megabits per second, but only for use with one device at a time. Of course, it includes unlimited text and call, plus a subscription to Yahoo Mail Pro. There"s a catch, though, as your data may slow down during peak traffic times.

Regarding the new wireless plan, Guru Gowrappan, CEO of Verizon Media, said:

“We are constantly looking for new ways to drive product innovation and synergy that unlocks value for our consumers. With the launch of Yahoo Mobile, we are continuing to evolve our business by bringing a new, personalized Yahoo experience to the market that feeds our users’ passions, and also attracts new audiences. Combining the strengths of Verizon’s assets in wireless, technology, and media will enable us to deliver a valuable consumer offering and experiences that give people more of what they want.”

Yahoo Mobile is available on iOS and Android. Customers have two options to sign up for the service: either to purchase the plan with a mobile device or just the plan. On Yahoo Mobile"s website, there"s a selection of the Google Pixel 4, iPhone 11, iPhone XS and more for those who want to avail of the plan with a handset.
