WhatsApp has released a new Android beta update, version 2.25.23.14, via the Google Play Beta Program. It brings a key feature that gives you the ability to display information about who has recently viewed a status update and its privacy settings more quickly. The feature isn’t available yet to beta testers, it still remains under development.
The upcoming feature will show a quick preview of recent viewers as small profile icons at the bottom of the screen accompanied by a count of the total number of contacts who have viewed the status. The goal is to provide immediate insight into engagement without requiring the user to open the full viewer list.
The interface of the new feature is expected to be clean and simple, with the icons in a compact layout. It’s designed to make status updates more interactive and help users efficiently monitor activity.
The other aspect of the feature is that it displays the specific privacy setting used for each status update. This is helpful for users who frequently change their privacy settings to quickly recall which audience was chosen for a particular update. The feature aims to make privacy management more transparent and reduce the chances of accidental oversharing.
To be clear, this feature is still under development and isn’t even available to beta testers yet. There is also no indication about when Meta will push this feature out to more users, but we can probably expect it quite soon. Given its developmental status, it could change by the time more users get to try it.
