WhatsApp’s latest iOS update, version 25.25.73, introduces a unified calling system for group chats. The feature replaces voice and video call buttons with a single menu allowing users to initiate voice or video calls, create call links, and schedule calls from a single interface - it also lets you select specific participants for a call.
The new menu consolidates all the previous calling actions into one place and the option to select participants prevents any unnecessary disruptions to the whole group. The participant selection process has been designed to be simple and intuitive, displaying a full list of group members. Users can choose who to include before deciding on a voice or video call.
This update is compatible with the newly released iOS 26, it’s using the iOS 26.0 SDK for better performance and stability. Despite this compatibility, the Liquid Glass interface is not available in this release. WhatsApp has deliberately disabled the feature in this iOS 26-specific update. The new interface is still under active development, and not accessible to the public. According to WABetaInfo, it has been disabled to ensure the app is stable and functional.
WhatsApp is still refining the Liquid Glass feature before it’s released officially. The company is reportedly focusing on transparency effects and dynamic reflections for the new interface. As for the unified calling system, it’s rolling out to a limited number of users initially, before a larger rollout.
