Windows 10: New search feature in Settings app shows up in build 9888

A build of Windows 10 leaked earlier today and while there aren"t any major new features, if you look deep enough, there are a few differences in this build when compared to 9879. In this build, Microsoft has built in a new search feature inside the Settings app.

The feature, as you can see in the image at the top of this post, makes it easy to quickly find the setting that you are looking for inside the app. The feature is still a work in process, though, as when you enter a term to search it opens the Charms bar instead of finding the setting inside the current window.

Still, this is an improvement over the current setup that does not have the search functionality. Even though you could search from the Start menu, this addition makes it easier to search if you are already inside the application. This will no doubt be a welcome addition especially as Microsoft is trying to put PC Settings front and center while deprecating Control Panel.

We have been covering all of the new features that shipped with the latest build of Windows 10 and if you need a refresher, you can check all of our coverage here.
