If you are a medium to large business owner and wanted to use Windows RT devices with a cloud-based client management system, Microsoft has now revealed what it will offer for those features, but it sounds like it"s going to be a while before it"s enabled.
In a new post today on the official Microsoft Server and Cloud blog, the company said:
Windows Phone 8 and Windows RT devices will be managed by the next release of Windows Intune. IT Pros will have the flexibility of using either the Windows Intune or Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 console to set mobile security policies, distribute mobile apps and view reports.
The blog posts adds at the end that the next Windows Intune version won"t be released until sometime in early 2013. With a number of Windows RT-based devices due out this fall, including Microsoft"s own Surface tablet, IT adminisrators and business owners may wait a little longer to purchase Windows RT-based products.
Microsoft also announced today that the next version of Windows Intune will give each user license the right to install the software for up to five devices. New pricing details will be revealed later.
In related news, the beta version of System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1 is now available to download.
