On the first day of its Ignite 2018 conference, Microsoft announced the Windows Virtual Desktop. The feature will allow users to run a full Windows 10 experience in the cloud. It offers a multi-user experience, it"s optimized for Office 365 ProPlus, and it all runs on Azure.
What"s also interesting about this is that it also includes Windows 7 Extended Security Updates. Windows 7 extended support ends in 2020, but Extended Security Updates will be provided until January 2023 if companies are willing to pay for them. Moreover, the price of those updates will increase every year, so having them bundled with Windows Virtual Desktop might be a good deal.
Microsoft says that with Windows Virtual Desktop, users can set up a Windows machine with Office in just minutes, including "built-in security and compliance".
