Windows XP's market share takes another hit, as Windows 7 and 10 rise

Last month, we learned that Windows 10 commanded a market share of 25.19%. The latest statistical report from NetMarketShare reveals that the operating system has now grown in market share along with Windows 7, while Windows XP has taken another hit.

After facing a decline of 0.11 percentage points in the previous month, Windows 10 now sits at a market share of 25.36% - a rise of 0.17 percentage points. That said, it is important to note that this increase is still within the margin of error. Meanwhile, Windows 7 has also shown an increase, and now commands 49.42% of the market, which is a notable improvement of 1.01 percentage points.

Thankfully, Microsoft"s now ancient operating system, Windows XP, has faced a decline in market share for the second consecutive month; it currently sits at 7.44%. On the other hand, Windows 8.1"s market share has also decreased to 6.66%.

Surprisingly, "Mac OS X" 10.12 has continued its impressive rise and now sports a market share of 3.22%. The "Others" section has declined to 7.90% - compared to 8.17% in the previous month.

This latest report certainly paints a good picture of Microsoft"s Windows 10 operating system. However, the overall Windows market share has still fallen to 91.59%. It"ll be interesting to see how this figure changes once the company releases the Creators Update later this month.
