Word Online users can now save time by skipping manual tedious edits with Copilot

Word Online (or Word for the web) is a particularly useful tool if you want to create new documents or edit existing ones on the go, without being bound to any specific piece of hardware. The other main benefit of Word Online is that it is free to use and identical to Word for desktop in terms of core functionality, but pared down when it comes to advanced features. Now, Microsoft is introducing a particularly useful capability in Word Online, as long as you have a license for Copilot.

Word for the web now allows customers to leverage Copilot to fix all grammar and spelling mistakes in one fell swoop. You don"t need to cycle through multiple proofreading suggestions and then manually apply all of them. You can simply utilize Copilot"s AI model to do the same for you.

Simply highlight the text that you want to proofread, and then click on the pen icon with stars next to it once it appears on your left margin. Alternatively, trigger it with the Alt + I shortcut. This will show all Copilot options, such as Auto rewrite, Fix spelling & grammar, Make shorter, Make formal, Writing suggestions, Visualize as a table, and Chat with Copilot.

Once you click Fix spelling & grammar, Copilot will begin analyzing the provided text, but you can press the Esc key to cancel the process. Once the changes are applied, you can click on Keep all or Undo all, depending on your thoughts on the modifications. You can also hover over individual words or phrases to undo changes one at a time.

This capability is particularly useful for customers who use Word for the web and don"t have issues with utilizing Copilot. The feature is rolling out to everyone with a Copilot license right now, but do keep in mind that it only works in the English language.
