Xbox Insider Preview build 16299.5097 shows installation progress in the Guide

Last night, in the wee hours of the night, Microsoft released a new Xbox One build to Insiders on the Preview Alpha ring. The build number is 16299.5097, or 1802.180129-1625. It"s actually not uncommon at all for the team to release a build outside of business hours; it seemingly happens more often than not.

This is a preview of the next feature update for the console, which is slated to be finalized in February. Note that this is not Redstone 4, which we should start seeing previews for following the release of version 1802.

While there are a bunch of new features coming in 1802, the one new feature for this build is the ability to see installation progress from the Guide. The tile will be located at the bottom of the Guide, and when you select it, it will open an interface showing the download queue.

There are also some fixes in this build:

Profile

  • Fixed an issue which caused some elements in Profile to appear misaligned.

Home and Dashboard

  • Resolved an issue which sometimes caused unexpected crashes.

Miscellaneous

  • Miscellaneous fixes and improvements.

And of course, there are also some known issues:

Games Installation

  • Games that are installed fail to launch. Workaround: If the games are installed to an external drive please copy the game to the internal drive or attempt to delete the title and redownload to fix the launch error.

Display

  • We are investigating the inaccurate RGB colors that have been reported when displaying in 4K HDR mode when playing a UHD disc.

Tournaments

  • The left and right navigation for selecting date and time during Tournament creation is currently reversed when the console language is set to Arabic or Hebrew.
  • Left and right navigation in Tournament twists is reversed when the console language is set to Arabic or Hebrew.
  • Left and right navigation in the bracket view of Tournaments is reversed when the console language is set to Arabic or Hebrew.

Avatars on Home

  • Users wishing to represent themselves as an avatar can do so by changing their settings under My profile > Customize profile > Show my avatar.

If you"re on the Preview Alpha ring, this build should be available now. The good news is that 1802 builds are already showing up in the Beta and Delta rings, which are open to everyone with varying levels of experience in the Insider Program, so those users should see this build soon as well.
