Xbox Live head Dan McCulloch is leaving Microsoft

Dan McCulloch, General Manager of Xbox Live since October 2017, announced today that he will be leaving Microsoft. McCulloch is a 15-year Microsoft veteran, having started in 2005 at the company as a program manager on various projects such as SMS features.

McCulloch has revealed his departure via Twitter, saying he is excited about the next chapter of his career. However, he didn"t say anything about his next step.

According to his LinkedIn page, McCulloch joined the Xbox team in 2007 as lead producer of incubation efforts and Kinect integration for Forza Motorsport 4. He also transitioned to the Kinect team before the project culminated. Then he managed all assets for Forza Motorsport 3.

In September 2009, he became Microsoft"s Game Studios portfolio manager for all first-party Kinect launch titles including Kinect Adventures, Kinectimals, Kinect Sports, and Kinect Joyride. McCulloch later moved to the Microsoft HoloLens team, overseeing five creative studios within the Xbox organization focused on developing HoloLens shipping titles. In December 2016, he was appointed as Head of Mixed Reality for Xbox and was responsible for its augmented and virtual reality teams, before being named head of Xbox Live.
