Xiaomi unveils Mi Mix 4 with an under-display camera and 120 W fast charging



Xiaomi"s highly anticipated handset Mi Mix 4 has finally been announced. Keeping up with its design-driven heritage, the phone features a premium ceramic body. Moving onto the front, the Mi Mix 4 sports a full-screen display. To get rid of the notch and punch-hole camera, Xiaomi has developed under-display selfie camera tech. To make the camera see through the display, Xiaomi claims to have reduced the pixel size in the camera area. Moreover, special circuitry has been deployed to minimize light diffraction and achieve transparency.

The Mi Mix 4 is the first handset to be powered by the Snapdragon 888+ chipset. The phone comes in 8 GB and 12 GB RAM variants. Depending on the model, the phone will pack in 128 GB to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.

The handset sports a 6.6-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with 10-bit color support. It is tuned for a 120 Hz refresh rate and 480 Hz touch sampling. Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, the screen is HDR10+ and Dolby Vision compatible.

Xiaomi has secured the top-notch 108 MP sensor from Samsung. it is accompanied by a 13 MP wide-angle lens and an 8 MP periscope camera with 5X optical zoom. The under-display selfie camera boasts a 20 MP module.

The phone packs a 4,500mAh battery with a whopping 120 W fast charging support. According to the Chinese brand, 37 Celsius will be the maximum rear temperature while charging at 120 W default mode.

The phone supports 5G, 4g VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, Infrared blaster, NFC, and GPS. The phone has dual speakers tuned by Harman Kardon. On the software side of things, you get Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 on top.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 is up for pre-orders in China and is expected to start shipping from August 16. The base variant of the phone with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage is pegged at 4,999 yuan, which roughly translates to $770. For 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage, you will have to spend 5,299 yuan (approx. $817). The 12 GB variant with 256 GB storage will set you back for 5,799 yuan (approx. $894). Finally, the top model with 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage will retail for 6,299 yuan (approx. $971).
