You can now get a free $40 gift card when you buy an Xbox One at GameStop

Xbox One buyers in the UK can currently get a free 12-month subscription to the EA Access gaming service, but unfortunately, that deal isn"t available in Microsoft"s home market. But if you"re about to buy an Xbox One in the US, one retailer is ready to sweeten the deal with a different offering.

Major Nelson (aka Microsoft"s Larry Hryb) tweeted today to share the news that you can now get a free $40 GameStop gift card with the purchase of an Xbox One console at the retailer.

However, while both the Major and GameStop say that the offer applies to "any new Xbox One system", there are exceptions. In fact, the promotion appears to apply only to three specific retail packages on GameStop"s site:

Still, while it seems to be limited only to certain Xbox One SKUs, it"s always nice to be offered free stuff. It"s not clear how long this offer will last, so if you"re thinking about going for it, don"t wait too long.
