YouTube fixes "weird" recommendations on its homepage

You may have noticed some irrelevant recommendations on your YouTube homepage lately, and you are not alone. Some users took to Reddit to voice out their frustration at what they described as "weird" video suggestions on the popular video-sharing platform.

One user complained about having received some gaming content that"s not in line with their favorite games in any way. Another user claimed having seen recommendations of fitness-related clips based on a Runescape player-killing video.

Thankfully, a YouTube representative acknowledged the issue and responded to the thread, saying the problem has since been fixed.

"Just confirming that YouTube is aware of this thread and looking into it – we do think something weird is up and I"ll edit this comment once I have more concrete info.

"Edit/Update: identified the cause of the issue and it should be fixed now. If anyone is still experiencing irrelevant recommendations like what was described in this thread by the OP and others, please reply to this and let me know. Really appreciate you all bringing this to YouTube"s attention."

It"s worth noting that this is not the first time YouTube irked users for the way it shows recommendations to them. Earlier last year, some users also criticized the Google-owned service for offering video suggestions beyond their interest. Obviously, it has taken YouTube many months before fixing the issue, but better late than never.
