[Q] Best PC Stereo Speakers to Replace Logitech Z-5500?

Recommended Posts

Hello

I would like to sell my logitech z-5500 speakers and purchase PC stereo speakers.

I'm selling Z-5500 because I would like to save space and have less cables. The Subwoofer is very huge.

The only thing I'm afraid of is the quality

Can you suggest me some Stereo Speakers?

Price will be up to 200$

I'd suggest the HK SoundStick IIIs. Fantastic and within budget. If you don't care or BT you can save a few bucks dropping it out.

There might be better speakers out now as I purchased these a while back, but they are great.

M-Audio AV 40:

Or if you want something that will rattle your walls, I highly recommend the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1.

I have the 5.1 system, and damn does it get loud!

No 2.1 Speakers please, I would prefer not to have a woofer again!

Just 2.0 Speakers [stereo] will do nicely!

Thanks for  your replies

Astra.Xtreme  m-audio is the perfect fit then.     probably one of the better ones you can get.

Creative Gigaworks T40, subs built into either speaker (2.0 speakers).

Astounding sound for their size and price.

I came from a 2.1 setup and I'm not missing out on any bass with these at all. Crisp at all frequencies, yet not too "Boomy", they control the bass really well, yet the mids and treble is great too. With the advantage of tone control dials too.

If you want quality, look into passive bookshelves speakers + a small amplifier. Problem with all these cheap powered speakers is poor amp quality that eventually go bad and ruin the speaker, common issue even on expensive, highly popular ones like Klipsch Pro Media, Audioengine, M-Audio AV-XX, etc.

Personally if I was to buy powered speakers ever again it'd be either very cheap ones (40$ or less) or top-of-the-line highly reputed studio monitors.

Just going by amazon reviews, a popular choice seems to be:

If he does go with this option (which won't nessasarily cut down on cables or save space due to the amp!)

I'd advise these the Q-Audio 2010i, I have these and they sound AMAZING for the price, the amount of sound they can kick out is incredible!

I have a pair of Edifier Luna Eclipse e25s that I have been very happy with. They have dual passive radiators that allow them to pump out seriously good bass - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/edifier-luna-eclipse-e25-2-0-bluetooth-speakers-2-piece-white/6493138.p?id=1219222473900&skuId=6493138

Or for something a bit out of left field, you could try a Harman Kardon Onyx Studio. It is a single unit with stereo speakers. It also has two passive radiators that give it a huge bottom end. The major drawback is that is it strictly Bluetooth only - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/harman-kardon-onyx-studio-portable-bluetooth-speaker-black/6677169.p?id=1219231142534&skuId=6677169

If you want a more accurate sound, there is always the AudioEngine 2. They aren't as loud as the others and they don't have as much oomph in the bottom end, although the bass response is still quite good, but they are otherwise excellent - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/audioengine-a2-2-0-powered-multimedia-desktop-speakers-2-piece-satin-black-satin-black/1309196920.p?id=mp1309196920&skuId=1309196920
