Make my OWN digg like site!

I want to make my own digg.com like site. The only reason I do not like meneame is that its not the best thing.. Pligg.com did a good job by translating it into english, but its not complete... I want to make my own, and these are some things that will make mine better than meneame:

+ Open source so anyone can use it

+ Install wizard so its very easy to install

+ It WILL NOT have the same design as digg.com... Having the same layout just makes the site look more like a rip.

+ The code will not me messy so others can customize it to their needs

+ I also want to include some css templates so people can have a choice of what it should look like without doing too much work.

I cant do this all alone so I really need help. If you are an experienced PHP programmer and know a lot about mysql, please replay..

Also, I do not want to make this to compete with digg.com

If you want to do that with your site, go ahead, but my pourpose is different.

so basically.. you want to rid on the digg.com bandwagon, and be successful, and make money off of ads.

everyone wants to copy digg.com, why i dont know.. it's a one million hit wonder to tell you the truth. it's not going to last that much longer, the hype of digg.com is dying down.. and soon it will just be another web site, until something bigger and better comes along.

What I really want to do is make that "voting" thing. That is the only thing I like about digg.com I have always wanted to have somthing like that, where users could click, and stories with enough votes would appear on the main page. That is not only usfull for news, but other things too.

but your whole idea.. is to copy digg.com and make it your own...

how about coming up with a new idea, instead of stealing peoples idea...

a digg clone can only be successful if it enters a specific neich (sp?) doing another "cool news / links " site wont get you far..

Not everyone installs a Pligg clone because they want to get popular like Digg.

There are several cases where you want to have your little social bookmarking/voting system for a small community focussed on some particular topic/region. Pligg is quite useful in such scenarios.
