Anybody playing 'Deadlight'?

I played and beat it on the XBox 360. I enjoyed it for being different, and it had a few pretty good ideas, but the controls were a tad clunky for my liking. They wind up being adequate, I just prefer a bit more precision. The 2D platformer Outland comes to mind as a platformer with very similar type game mechanics but more precision overall. Still, was a good game despite the controls not being the tightest. Took about 4-5 hours to play through it.

I seen some reviews aa while back and they were a bit average. Might wait until the next price-drop.

To me, it doesn't mind: I've played and enjoyed games that scored so low you normally had to ignore them for preserving your mental health :-P

It's classical 2D platforming, Prince of Persia and Flashback alike. It's the perfect way to "platform" in 2D, for me :-P

I agree. Sometimes games are better than critic impressions might lead you to believe. I just use reviews as a general guide.

I think some critics suffer from deadline stress; they grind play-throughs and become resentful of a game they feel like they "had to play" for work, then give it worse score than they would have had they simply played it at their own pace for leisure or fun.

Only been playing it for ~a day now or so off and on in small doses. Comparing it to the original Prince of Persia is fair.. haven't gotten too far into it yet, but so far its pretty good. Not my favorite by any stretch (more of an RPG fan) but it's entertaining for sure. One of the very few games I'll whip out the 360 controller for.

I really enjoy Outland, but I got stuck on the second boss and kind of lost interest.

I will not lie, that boss was a HUGE pain in the ass. So much so, I wound up deferring to a YouTube video after a good 1-2 hours of not beating it.

I eventually lost interest though later on in the game. I had stopped playing it for a few weeks for whatever reason, went to revisit it, and was totally lost as to what I had done up until that point. So as much as I liked Outland, I did not beat it.

Absolutely agreed. It is how platforming games should be in my opinion. 3D platforming games are just not good. 2D is the way they have to be. I am a huge fan of the genre going all the way back to Pitfall on the Atari 2600

As I said this game is good, it was good enough for me to see it through and beat it, but the controls were a tad imprecise. There are "triggers" involved that mean the difference from making a long jump to not making it, and it just seemed like at times those triggers did not kick in when they should. So led to a bit of frustration. Still, a game worth checking out, especially if you do like 2D platformers.

Heh, you have just described the gameplay mechanics for Prince of Persia. And considering how much I love playing PoP to this day, I should feel at home with Deadlight :-P

Hello, i have made a complete blind playthrough the last days. It's kind of like a let's play but without the commentary, so pure gameplay.

Would love some feedback regarding quality etc.

I will probably also upload a playthrough of Mark of the Ninja soon.

    • I already have AI "Scareware blocker" on my private profile, it's in "Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Security". I've disabled it because I know what scareware is and don't need AI to tell me.
    • Google are also developing a version that will require you to use an Android device that passes Google Play Integrity for reCAPTCHA challanges: https://reclaimthenet.org/goog...or-de-googled-android-users That will lock people out of various website that don't use Google blessed versions of Android sadly.
