Acrobat 8 + office 2007: "Missing PDFMaker Files"

Question

Hello,

I have a user who can not convert Word or Excel documents to PDF. She repeatedly receives the error "Missing PDFMaker Files."

I've done quite a bit of research and have not been able to solve this problem.

Here is a list of things I've done:

1) Uninstalled Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard + reinstalled

2) Manually removed the addin + re-added the addin

3) Added the directory to the add-on dll to the trusted locations (for macros, add-ins, etc)

I'm kind of stuck at this point.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt Brown

Thanks for replying with the KB article.

The add-in is now enabled in both word and excel 2007, and the error is persistent.

Do you have any other other ideas?

Thanks for your time,

Matt

Strange as it may sound, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office 2007 rather than Acrobat?

I have not. I was trying to avoid it. Another thing to do would be to eliminate the personalization stuff (like rename the files/folder); but the user wishes that I avoid this also.

It appears that none of the updates have been installed. When I run the MSPs, msiexec is reporting that the no application that the patches are built for is installed. I may attempt to do an admin install of the MSI and apply the MSPs just to get this working.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Matt

There obviously was an issue with the install of acrobat. After uninstalling it completely and reinstalling (again), I was able to run the updates (which previously were unable to be applied).

After this, there was an issue with "fully functional PDF" prints and I opted to use "Quick and simple PDF" prints. However, after restarting again; oddly enough, "Fully functional PDF" prints worked.

I'm glad I got this solved.

I have had the same problem with Adobe Acrobat 8 and it is only one solution:

You have in Acrobat menu check for updates. After that you wil be asking to install update. Answer yes and few minutes later you will have Adobe Acrobat 8.1 and all with PDF Maker files will be right.

Good luck and sorry my pure English. With no costs and legal.

Microsoft confirmed June 23, 2026, that its Fairwater campus in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, is fully operational — and the engineering behind it makes the facility something fundamentally different from every data center that came before it. Where conventional cloud infrastructure racks up general-purpose servers and parcels out workloads to each one independently, Fairwater links hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GB200 Blackwell GPUs into a single, coherent cluster using a two-story building design, 800-gigabit-per-second Ethernet fabric, and a proprietary networking protocol co-developed with OpenAI and NVIDIA. The result, according to Microsoft, is the closest thing to a purpose-built AI supercomputer that any company has ever placed in commercial operation. https://www.techtimes.com/articles/319205/20260627/microsoft-opens-fairwater-wisconsin-ai-campus-runs-one-supercomputer-via-800g-ethernet.htm
