No sound in Most Metro UI Apps

Hello!

I've just installed Windows 8.

It took me a while getting used to it but now I'm encountering a major problem.

There is no sound in most Metro UI Apps.

However, when I first installed Windows 8 these apps were working properly.

I searched google and it seems it is a common issue but I haven't found any solution

Can somebody help me on this?

Google Search
Skype
tunein
ebay
wikipedia

Metro Apps uninstalled:
Finance
News
Sports

Desktop Apps installed:
?Torrent
7-Zip
Adobe Shockwave Player
AMD Catalyst
Google Chrome
Intel SSD Toolbox
Logitech Setpoin
Mozilla Firefox
Media Player Classic Home Cinema

Enabled Windows Feautures:
Hyper-V


System Specs:
CPU: Intel i7 920
RAM: 3x2GB OCZ Core i7 Edition 8-8-8-24
M/B: MSI X58A-GD65
Graphics Card: Sapphire HD4870 1GB
SSD: Intel M-25 80GB
HDD: 2x1TB RAID0 Western Digital Caviar Black
Sound Card: Auzentech Hometheater HD 7.1

Note: I haven't installed any drivers for the sound cards.

At first I thought something was messed up in the previous Windows 8 installation with the drivers of Auzentech which they do not support Windows 8 and I did a format. The Metro UI apps worked fine with the new clean installation without drivers.

Also Metro Music, Video work fine.

There is no sound in Metro apps regardless. If Music and Video work, that tells me there is no problem.

But there is. It's exactly what I'm saying.

There is no sound in tunein radio, neither on Youvue, Tuba.fm

But there is in pianotime and Play Guitar.

All these apps I tried them now so YES there is a problem.

Auzentech announces Windows 8 release schedule for Sound Card Drivers

San Jose, CA: Auzentech, Inc (www.auzentech.com) is pleased to announce the following release schedule for Auzentech soundcard drivers compatible with Microsoft Windows 8.

• C-Media has promised the driver update that applies to the Auzen X-Plosion and X-Meridian 7.1 2G on Windows 8 by the end of November, 2012
  
• Creative has promised the drivers for X-Fi Forte and X-Fi HomeTheater HD in mid-January, 2013

you are probably using generic sound drivers . Although you may be getting sound elsewhere the apps you are concerned with just don't like the driver

I'm really sorry.

I forgot to mention:

I'm using the Intergrated Realtek sound card at the momment since the Auzentech does not even get recognized.

But still wheter I'm using the generic drivers or I install the drivers for Realtek (which the drivers support Windows 8) I still do not get sound from these metro apps.

However, that would not explain why these specific apps worked fine on a fresh-fresh install

There must be some conflict with something I installed or updated.

Have you tried restarting? I had an issue with the Music app in that the volume kept reducing when switching to the desktop. I restarted the machine and it solved it, shutting down the PC obviously wasn't doing anything as it doesn't do a proper reboot that way in Windows 8.

Ah okay, I thought you might have. I'm not entirely sure though, it's as if modern apps don't take any notice of the system settings.

Found it!

What was affecting the videos & music was ATI Legacy Drivers even though they say that the drivers fully support Windows 8...

What a let down..

Also, if you install Hyper-V you cannot play any video file with any app.

It seems Windows 8 are still at an early stage.
