am i alone on this...

i hate the corvette.. the new design looks like they ripped off a ferrarri for the front end.. its not the fastest thing on the street.. with that price tag, i'd rather buy a mustang cobra.

what is it about the corvette that makes people go bannanas? i don't get it.

So the 2005 Z06 was a C5 and this one is the C6?

No, they were both C6, the 2006 though has a newer engine, and more horses, even with the new standard for measuring them.

@vice king: Off the line, there is nothing that can really compare with the Vette, without significant modifcations, at that price tag. 40-50grand for the base model, which alone can run around anything near that price tag. The new Z06, with it's higher price tag competes with muscle cars twice as expensive, and can even hang with the Viper, yet offer a smoother ride overall then the viper. The Viper was built from the ground up as a power car, the Vette was designed as a luxary sports car, which was evolved into a muscle car (just look at the 70's vette's numbers, through today's, they don't improve much until the mid-90's).

If I could afford a Z06, I would definitely buy one. As it is, I can't afford my '85 yet, gotta wait for graduation (it's paid off, but insurance for a student...)

You're not alone but one of the few. True it's not the fastest thing but find me a car for cheaper that is faster. It's runs with Ferrari's and Porsche's that cost twice as much, a mustang cobra is hardly the fastest thing on the street. Other than the new lights I don't see as much in common with ferrari's as with previous corvette's, I would hardly call it ripping off ferrari for a front end, would that be such a bad thing anyway since ferrari's look nice. I've never been much of a corvette fan but if they keep producing car's like this I might become one in a few years.

I'm not a big fan of either Corvettes or Mustangs...but this Corvette would suck a Mustang up and spit it out. I think it's a pretty sharp looking design, and considering it will run with Vipers, Ferrari, and other exotics the price tag isn't too bad. And it's only $65,000 USD....half the price of other cars at the same performance level. It's a 7.0 liter V8 and I think it ended up being a little lighter than last years model?

 I have to disagree with that statement, look at any L88 corvete, they have much more HP than the newer ones and were designed to be a pure muscle car, granted they don't have the handling the newer ones have, but they certainly had the HP. If I could afford a '68 L88, I would buy it in a second, but they are going for around $250,000 and up depending on condition, but it would be hard to find one, as they only made a total of 216 from '67 thru '69. but I'd rather have that than a newer one. :D . plus it was made the year I was born, so maybe I'm a little partial to that year, and that was when they changed the body style to the newer sexier one. I've been obsessed with the L88 series even since I started to drive.

OT: Does anyone know what year they didn't make a corvette? I remember when I worked for a parts store, when things got slow, we would call other parts stores and ask for parts for that year, and would get "I don't have a listing for that year vette", and we would say "Are you telling me that I don't have a **** sitting in my driveway that needs an alternator, or whatever part. lol.

Yeah, I knew someone would call me out with the C2's. But look at the C1's first. They were more of a luxary car then a true sports car. The C2 stopped that for a while, but then with the C3 and the gas crisis, they went back to the luxary line. It wasn't until recent that they came back out with raw power. Now, they've never been a weak car by any means, just saying.

And for your quesiton, I believe your referring to the '83 corvette, which was indeed produced, just never sold due to the high number of problems. It was corrected, but not until late, and turned into the 84 model.

Neither do I. The only reason I would want a Corvette is so I could drive recklessly without feeling guilty for beating the crap out of the car.

The headlights were blatantly ripped off Ferrari. While they look good on a Ferrari on a Chevy they look retarded.

I would have to agree. You know your vette's, most people can't answer that question. :) And there is nobody that owns an '83 vette, except maybe someone you designed and/or built it. I wish I was that lucky :) . That would be worth a fortune.

Yeah would love a Sagaris and thats about the same money as this.

586628494[/snapback]

The Sagaris is a beautiful car compared to the "American Crap" or whatever someone called it...but you can't buy them here in America (to my knowledge). Besides that there is about a $25,000 price difference and both do 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. I'm not saying I love the design or the car in general (not a corvette fan) but it packs more punch for the money...

Beautiful - Ferrari competitor at a fraction of the cost.

I'd take this over some snobby Euro sports car.

And to the guy that rather have a Shelby Mustang...well, I'll take this and be the one laughing at you in my rear view miror.

Not to say I don't love the Shelby's, but its a different class.

Gotta love the Pushrod OHV motor.. 2 valves per cylinder, displaces 7 liters but physically smaller than a 4.6 liter DOHC motor, gets better gas mileage than most v6's, has a big fat torque band that can be used anytime, about a thousand times more reliable than italian makes in the same class and it makes 505 hp. There is a version of the Corvette coming out at some point (so they say) called the blue devil and that is supposed to run over top of the Z06 performance wise.. I can't even imagine how fast the Ligenfelter version of this car would be!

C6 Z06 = the monster

There's nothing to compare with it in its price range. Amazing, amazing car. I've seen it dyno 430rwhp/410 ft-lbs torque without even being broken in.

With a header and redline oil, 490rwhp/470 ft-lbs torque.

Not only does it have amazing power, it can actually handle. If i had the money, I'd buy this instantly.

While I am a Vette enthusiast, the only reason I knew that was because it's my birthyear.

The year I was born was so important, that Chevy had to stop production of the car I was destined to own.

    • I am not a US citizen nor a Trump fan. Respect to both left and right. But I will, for the sake of fun, predict something for my own. There will come a day when the US and China will collide like titans ( over Taiwan or anything else ). Then, on that day, some people in this comment section will realize how good an idea it was to become independent in areas like that. ( Or atleast try )
    • Microsoft Edge gets tons of security features, including AI model that can see your screen by Usama Jawad Microsoft Edge may not be the most popular browser out there, but it does receive quite frequent updates that sometimes bring surprising new features and axe others that are not as popular. Now, Microsoft has detailed some of the new security enhancements that it has introduced in Edge for Business, typically used by commercial customers. Microsoft has emphasized that security features are baked into Edge for Business and offer native integration with security and governance tools like Defender and Purview. Browser sessions are governed by default on managed devices but can also be governed through dedicated work profiles on unmanaged devices. An important aspect in this area is controlling the use of shadow AI. We have talked about this before, but it essentially restricts employees from using unsanctioned AI apps through data loss prevention (DLP) policies, with Edge redirecting them to trusted AI services like Microsoft 365 Copilot. This feature, available as a pay-as-you-go (PAYG) license, ensures that confidential data never exits AI boundaries set by your organization in Purview. Additionally, Microsoft also has strong DLP policies for contractors. Contractors leveraging a Entra ID-joined work profile provisioned by their contracting company on a device managed by their actual employer can be restricted from downloading files locally. In such scenarios, the file is saved on the contracting firm's OneDrive rather than being downloaded locally. Another useful Edge security feature disallows copying and pasting from unmanaged locations and apps. Similarly, DLP policies can be configured at a granular level to restrict screenshots or downloading of files from certain locations. In the same vein, IT admins can block the installation of extensions, hosted apps, themes and scripts, and control if users can install extensions from external locations. They can also enable the installation of specific extensions and allow users to request access to certain extensions, so that they can be managed on a case-by-case basis. Finally, Edge for Business now has an on-device AI model that uses computer vision to see what's on your screen and block potentially malicious content immediately. This does not rely on site reputation, as it simply monitors what is being displayed on your screen, which means that it is effective against malicious content that takes over your screen and employs scareware tactics. Since this is an on-device AI model, it does use your system's resources, so it's enabled by default only on devices with at least 2GB of RAM and four CPU cores. You can find more details in the Microsoft Mechanics video here.
