Browse for folder blank

Dont know when it started but as of late if any program needs to find a file or folder (that I have to select), that doesnt have the sidebar (with my docs, my computer, etc...) all i get is a blank window saying browse for file/folder with an ok or cancel with no way of selecting anything.

Any help would be usefull

on a side note i realized that I originaly put this message in the software discusion forum, it doesnt belong there but I dont know how to delete it, so if someone could tell me or a moderator could delete it that would be cool to.

make sure that below the "File Name" drop down menu that the "Save as type" drop down menu has "All Files" selected.

No I mean its just the gray out line no white box that usually has the files in it. Also the file type drop down isnt showing. All thats in the window is an ok and cancel, Ill have to upload a screen shot so you know what I mean.

wierd... did u clean the registry recently? from what I am guessing, it looks like a deleted registry key is causing the problem.

i clean it on a regular basis I dont think its that but there is always the possibility. My backup is from a couple weeks ago so I really dont want to use it, so if anyonw might know where that key would be it would be cool.

Well I imported my registy from a month ago (before the problem) and that didnt fix it so I dont believe it to be a registry problem.

Any other ideas?

I dont like to bump my own thread but I really need a solution short of reinstalling cause I finaly have everything running right with the exception of that but its really kind of a big problem.

I'm having the exact same issue now. Has anyone decided what the problem is? its only happened in last 2-3 days and I havn't installed anything new.

Fixed the problem. Problem was from files not being registered.

To resolve the problem, type the following commands in Start, Run dialog:

regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll

regsvr32 /i browseui.dll
