Flash Player isn't detected? JavaScript turned off?

Question

Hey. I recently got my new laptop and everytime I go onto a video website (YouTube mainly), it says

Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player. Get the latest flash player.

When I click on the link and download the player it says "Flash Player successfully installed". I then go back to YouTube and the same message is still displayed.

It happens on another site (www.pornotube.com - shameful I know), but when displaying this message, they give me the option to "Bypass Flash Player Detection" and the video then works perfectly - hence it shows that Flash Player is actually installed on my laptop.

In am using Windows Vista RTM and the message is being displayed on Internet Explorer 7 (I haven't been able to try it on FireFox, because I haven't installed FF yet).

Please can somebody help me? Maybe I have a setting wrong in Internet Options?

C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\flashutil9b.exe

Run and hey presto!!!!

Thanks for that but it doesn't work. It comes up with the installer and whne I click "Install" it says "An error has occured, please make sure you are connected to the Internet" And I am connected lol.

Slimy, I don't know what x86 is. I know I am using the 32 Bit version of Vista though, not 64 or 86 (If thst's what you mean).

x86 = 32;)t ;)

And I've had this same problem. Like someone else said, download the Flash uninstall program from Adobe.com and then reinstall Flash. This should fix it.

Woah it is an obivous bug, surely one of them (Microsoft or Adobe) should have realised this in the Beta stages or RC stages?

I'm currently looking for the uninstall file on Adobe's official website. Thanks all, I love Neowin lol, I can find the answer to anything I need!
