I live in MI and use TDS DSL. Today i noticed that they have overriden all search requests in my browser. I primarily use Firefox 2 with it configured to search from the address bar using google. When I type "windows" in the address bar, I expect to be presented with a google page of my search results; instead I get the yahoo powered searchguide for TDS (with no where near as many results). My browser is still configured as I intended it and yet TDS still takes over. The same thing in IE7/8, Opera, etc...

I was not notified of this update nor did I agree to it. Here is what I found on their FAQ page:

http://searchguide.tds.net/faq.php

Why am I here?

The TDS redirection service has been enabled to provide helpful searches from web address errors. You entered an unknown name that the TDS service used to present site suggestions which you may find useful. Clicking any of these suggestions provides you with Yahoo! search results, which may include relevant sponsored links.

Why should I use The TDS redirect service?

The TDS redirect service makes finding websites easier and more convenient. The service uses the entered non-existing website name to determine useful search results. Often, you will see a desired website or page that meets your needs. (Yet has no results for "google") -me

Does TDS track my Internet usage?

No. The TDS redirect service simply redirects queries to non-existing domain names to a useful search results page instead of a cryptic error message page or browser-defined page.

I also found some info about the new homepage (now with a google search box as opposed to the yahoo one they are pushing on me.)

Work Around:

DNS server needs to be 4.2.2.1
