TW.4T
Hi guys, I know this can be done I just cant remember for the life of me how I have done it in the past. Basicly I want to RDP into my home Network and access either "Computer A" , "Computer B" or "Computer C". I remember having DYNdns setup and some portforwarding, but, its been that long since I actaully had the need to use this type of setup I just cant fathom it out. I know its a really easy procedure, so, could somebody please refresh my aging brain for me PLEASE ? Roger H. Veteran Posted May 23, 2012 Veteran Share Posted May 23, 2012 It's easy to set port forwards based on your router. Some routers don't allow different external and internal ports but in general you'd do like this: 3389ex port - IPADDRESS:3389 = PC-A 3390ex port - IPADDRESS:3389 = PC-B 3391ex port - IPADDRESS:3389 = PC-C So basically when now connecting from outside you'd do remote desktop like so: user.dyndns.org:3391 that will directly send you to the login screen of PCC Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1079151-simple-question-re-rdp-and-several-computers-on-my-network/#findComment-594883429 Share on other sites
sc302 Veteran Posted May 23, 2012 Veteran Share Posted May 23, 2012 you can change the rdp ports of whatever computer and then port forward through your router. if your router supports port mapping you could assign a outside port to an inside computer answering on 3389.??But why go through all of that trouble with things like teamviewer and logmein which are free services that you don't have to screw with your firewall.??Is it that you need 16 or 24 bit color? regedit and change the port here if you wish HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\PortNumberyou will need to restart after you make this change for it to take effect. ANON86364
While Remote Desktop is great, I would suggest not opening it up to the public internet. It isn't secure especially of late. Additionally, opening more than one computer/port to RDP is only exaggerating the concern. You should find out if your router can act as a VPN end point or if you can flash it with DD-WRT.
