Whats a good cost vs performance Nvidia card to get?

I like EVGA, but BFG is good as well. I had an MSI card die after a few months of use. Have not used Zotac or Gigabyte vid cards so I can't comment on them.

For $229, that's a pretty good deal.

EDIT: EVGA is the only one that I know of to offer a lifetime warranty.

I bought one when it first came out at $500 and the only complaint I have is that it is fairly loud under load, but it is a very fast videocard.

That needs a beefy PSU. 6 and 8 pin power connection.

No no, don't get a GTX 480. It's old technology that sucks a tonnnn of power and runs really hot. Obviously it's a good card since it's the _80 series, but it's not really worth it compared to the modern 5xx or 6xx series.

It all really depends on budget.

If you want to be in the $100 (USD) range, then the GTX 460 is one of the best ones to get and it has mad overclocking potential.

If the budget is in the $200 range, then the GX 560 Ti is a great card.

And if budget is no matter, then the GTX 670 is the best value card at the moment.

I've had bad experiences with ATI, so I don't tend to care for what they offer, but I'm sure they have a comparable card to each of those Nvidia ones.

Did you mean the current 500 and 600 series?

I agree the 480gtx is a power sucking beast and runs pretty hot, and the insanely loud fan can be annoying at times, but I don't have decent speakers to begin with for my desktop to help cover the noise. The heat issue can be solved by running nvinspector, so my card is usually sitting at 45 degrees when browsing around the internet or whatever (90 on full load). I just think if you care about playing the latest and greatest computer games, you shouldn't be paying more for a card that will perform around 20% less than the card that is cheaper, although it may be slightly older. Otherwise get a 560 or even a 570, as I think all the 400 series had problems with noise/heat output, but I may be wrong.

The 570 is closer to the 480gtx performance, and you can get one for $270: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130593, which may be out of your price range.

I dont care if it sucks up alot of power..... I run tubes in my stereo receivers... haha,, THe hell with this green energy ****
