gd-rom

dreamcast uses gd rom drive and disk. is there any way to use it on the pc.

if you would have a gd-rom on your computer, would it be possible to make it work on the pc.

look here

is there any chance to change that replacement gd-rom to a functional gd-rom for pc. and then a dreamcast emulator, it would be sweet :)

yes, it would be possible, you could in a sense take the gd-rom laser and motor and put it into a cd-rom drive. However, when you do this, it's not that simple... Now you've got something that your computer has no idea how to use. You'd need to write drivers for it, which I'm sure is beyond most people's abilities.

If you really want to read GD-rom discs on your computer you can buy a simple dc-to-pc cable. It plugs in the back of the dreamcast and into the serial port of your computer. There are plenty of programs out there that were written to use this, even some by sega if you were to buy the "Dreamcast developer's pack"

umm.. how are you planning to play dreamcast games without a dreamcast?

Yes, there are dreamcast emulators, but they are not very advanced at all. In fact, they will appear to the average person, to do nothing at all. There is no sound, and no display, only debug.

Oh, and btw, if the emulator you have is called nightmare (or nitemare) then you are the recepient of a long and old hoax from back before Dreamcast was released in the US. In fact, some of these "nightmare" prgrams have trojans in them. It's nothing more then nesticle (best nes emulator at the time) hacked. Try loading an nes game ;)

The game you're prolly thinking of is Soul Calibur or Dead or Alive 2.

Get a Dreamcast, they're only $50 now.
