RESTORE DEFAULT SETTINGS

I wanted to share this with you guys because I know when I released a version of this forever ago some of you guys loved it.

If you have any sugestions on tweaks I should add (registry tweaks that are DWORD values in the registry), feel free to sugest. If you have any sugestions on wording of these current tweaks or what categories they fall in, again, let me know.

Btw, I added these options via the registry. Pretty easy stuff, but time consuming.

All of the options

Do know this... I do this because I have nothing better to do at work when I'm bored. I don't want to hear it if you think it sucks. If you don't like, keep it to yourself. Thanks (Y)

So anywho, that should be it. In the attachment there's a reg file and a help file. Move the help file to your C:\WINDOWS\HELP directory to enable to tool tips.

If I were you I would check out Xteq X-Setup - you can find all of the latest tweaks that others have found and incorporate it into your little app here? ;-0

Yeah... this is just something I do at work when things are boring. Right now I only have the ability to modify DWORD values. But oh well.

I don't know what most of the options mean/do.

Would appreciate if a detailed writeup of the options to be released with it.

Yeah, I've got the tooltips comming in the next "release". I added a few more options, changed the wording for some, fixed one of them (wasn't set right). Etc.

Here's an excerpt from one of the tool tips:

By default Windows creates one multi-threaded Explorer process which contains the Desktop, Taskbar and all other explorer instances. If one of these instances fails, all instances will fail. When enabled, this setting causes Windows to create separate processes insulating them from other failures.

User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]

Value Name: DesktopProcess

Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)

Value Data: (1 = Separate Process, 0 = Default)

I go so far as to give the user information on the tweak so if they wanted to go in by hand and do it, they could (one thing I thought all tweaking apps I've tried have lacked).

RESTORE TO DEFAULTS

Sorry about that.

This reg will uninstall all the tweaks and install the default settings. From there, you can import the latest version.

Been playing with it between down times today and here's what's changed so far:

Oct 23 -

Added the following options:

*TcpMaxDataRetransmissions

*BagMRU Size

*EnableBalloonTips

*NoUserNameInStartMenu

*EncryptionContextMenu

Other changes:

*Removed some uneeded stuff from some of the group entries.

*Changed the wording for the shortcuts entries. Although very similar, they perform slightly different functions. Read the tooltips.

*Fixed broken tool tip for Anonymous User Restrictions and updated it with a link to a MSKB article on it (article is for Win2k, but applies to XP too).

Will upload new version tomorrow with "changelog". :D Glad you guys like. Sorry again about no "uninstaller" back there.

This lets you hide/show recycle bin on the desktop. It's a little buggy so use at your own risk.

It would be cool if everyone added there own little tweak, and toast god added everything into a huge .reg file.

    • Well i'll look into a docking station if needed and use that.    Normally i don't usually have all the drives connected at once,  usually once a month to sync the latest files, and then they go back in there storage area

    • Salesforce to acquire Fin, formerly Intercom, for over $3 billion by David Uzondu Image via DepositPhotos.com Salesforce today announced that it has reached an agreement with customer support software company Fin to buy the company for around $3.6 billion. Salesforce expects the transaction to close in the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2027, and the acquisition will not change its financial guidance previously announced on May 27. Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, in its press release, claimed that acquiring the startup gives Salesforce an immediate AI agent that resolves support tickets across email, WhatsApp, SMS, and Slack: You might know Fin by its former name, Intercom. If you have ever been on a website or inside a mobile app and noticed a little chat bubble widget floating in the bottom right corner of your screen, often featuring a friendly face and a message like, "Hi! How can we help you today?" you were almost certainly looking at Intercom. Intercom became Fin just last month, transforming itself into an "AI-first" platform that handles customer issues with little need for humans to intervene. The new name originates from the company's highly successful AI customer service agent, which it launched way back in 2023. This digital assistant supposedly resolves about 76% of customer service volume end-to-end on its own, so the business rebranded to match its primary software tool. Fin's new owners, Salesforce, went on an acquisition spree over the last few years, and some of them you might recognize, like its 2020 $27.7 Billion acquisition of Slack. The last few months saw the enterprise giant buy several startups, including m3ter, Momentum, Cimulate, and Contentful. Salesforce said that when the Fin deal pulls through, customers will "deploy AI agents across" various service operations, which will complement Agentforce, the platform that enables businesses to deploy customizable autonomous digital workers.
