Windows 8.1 Update forgetting my WPA2 key

Recommended Posts

So, since upgrading to update 1 my laptop and desktop have constantly been forgetting my network key. It seems like they only do it if I don't use them for a couple of days. It's becoming quite annoying. Does anyone know what might be going on?

Hi Stokkolm.

Try plugging in an Ethernet connection to your computer, then changing your WPA2 network key?

Then change back once disconnected (if  you wish),

I couldn't swear on it - but it is most likely an installation issue - you may need a fresh install.

I hope i have helped,

Tobias

Did you try deleting the saved wireless profile? (by having windows 8 'forget' the network, Charms bar > settings > wireless > right click on network > forget this network).

I just did that. I'll have to shut it off overnight and see if it remembers it or not by the morning. Usually if I just do a quick restart it won't lose it, only seems to happen if the machine is off for an extended time.
