first off sorry if this is in the wrong place.. couldn't find a specific "AP errors" topic

Haivng downloaded the AP Jan full version and used it on two machines (both XP Pro) at the school where I work to great sucess I threw it on a CD and took it home.. only to get a :

Runtime Error '91'

Object Variable or Width block variable not set.

window pop up after clicking through the EULA and about 2 seconds after the little "welcome to autopatcher" window pops up (the "Initialising Autopatcher..." text is emboldened)

when ever I click on "AutoPatcher_menu.exe" or "Autopatcher.exe". Have tried two copies of the disk from the original version - compressed and uncompressed with the same result.

on clicking on the "OK" button in the "runtime..." window, any semblance of autopatcher dissapears... :-(

have messed around with some of the switches to see if I can bypass anything.... and am running out of ideas (not that I had many in the first place):

am runnning XP Pro SP1.

any ideas / suggestions greatfully accepted...

ps

Am running a virtical dual monitor setup and the splash screen and the AP menu appear almost off the bottom of my bottom monitor... presumably a side effect and not a terminal one... just thought one of you clever coding people might like to know...

Congratulations!! This is indeed a new one... I've never seen that Runtime Error yet (we've had them in previous builds, but normally they were "Out of Memory" Errors, not "Object Variable or Width block variable not set" Errors). Anywho, I'll be sure I get Raptor on this one ASAP. (Y)

Quick note, talked to Raptor... try running it from the HDD instead of CD... if you still get the error... try it using only one monitor (I know how odd that sounds)... if still getting errors, let us know! (Y)

Hi Flishfun

Thanks for the lightning fast reply...

have disabled my secondary monitor and had already tried installing off the HDD, but tried again with the monitor disabled as well... just in case ... no luck anywhere...

No prob... I'll let Raptor know, he's sleepin' right now, but I'm sure he'll get to work on figurin' this one out when he gets up. :) Don't worry, we're workin' on it! :D

I have the same error, I just installed windows  (btw cymro do you run the latest nvidia drivers? I dont have the old ones to test it, my best guess is them because the only thing different this install is the video driver.)

Hi again...

I have also tried the suggested command line switches to no avail.

The screen shot is a mirror image of mine.

Oh, and one of my monitors running on a PCI NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 card the other card is AGP and running an oldish ATI RAGE 128 both are using the bog standard WINXP Pro drivers....

and just to rub salt in the wound.. I have just used one of the copies that failed on my system perfectly in a brand new system to great (and time saving) affect :-) ... now all I've got to do is work out what I've done wrong with my own system....

not needed :p, I have always ran it without sp1 and now it just starts failing on the new install (I install about once a week), and why dont U simply integrate sp1 then :alien: .

Integrate SP1 into Windows XP? Or into the AutoPatcher? If you mean the AutoPatcher, it's because of size. If you mean XP, I'd suggest he do that as well. :)

A Good point. re SP1a ...

I reckon that all of the computers I have sucessfully installed AP on have been SP1a (the WinXP Home I installed on this w/end was definately SP1a), mine is quite an early version of SP1... this could be an issue.. I will try to get hold of a copy of SP1a .. but I suppose that it would mean a format and re-install :-(

Well... it will work on the final SP1 that was released, but earlier SP1 builds I can't say for sure. Either way, glad it's workin' now! (Y)
