turn disk write caching on

Oh, well looking through the registry I wouldn't like to guess sorry. Just to confirm though, you don't have the option to select caching?

Also you said turn back on, did you turn it off (and now can't turn it back on) or change any other drive settings?

pic: You don't see this (same place, just got there right clicking drive, properties etc)

Try looking in your IDE controller's property sheet. For example to change the write caching on a NForce2-based chipset with the latest drivers, you have to go into the "Nvidia NForce2 ATA Controller" properties. On RAID cards the write caching is typically controlled via the manufacturer's config utility or during the bootup process.
