MAC Password cracker

My friend recently forgot the password to her Macintosh system. The admin password to e precise. Is there any prog that cab be run locally to find said password. This is just my friends computer, so I don't believe i am breaking any laws or board rules by asking this, but if i am i apologize and feel free to remove this thread immediatly

once agian, its not MAC it is Mac.. MAC is an acyronym for Media Access Control... something totally different

Is there not a way to login as root and change stuff?? I'm sure someone else witll know.

Boot off of the OS X CD, and select Change Password from the menu ;)

Another way is to boot while holding down either "S" or Command-S (for older OSX versions).

It will drop you into a root shell. From there, you can change the password of the account

type in the following:

su username - where username is the shortname for the account.

passwd - this will change the password for that account.

After that type in.

exit

reboot

Now before someone asks why it's so easy to do this, you need physical access to the machine to access this back door and it is disabled if you enable a password on the firmware.
