It sounds pretty rough.

If you hear metal to metal you have problems. Like a the pistons hitting the heads or something.

It sounds from the file like an exhaust leak close to the engine or something.

Whats all the banging at the beginning and end? Almost sounds like the car us running and knocking a while after you shutdown.

The banging sound is likely me entering the car, and coming out.

Man, I'm no expert but from that last clip it sounds like either a very very bad exhaust leak around the engine manifold or rod knock.

You should probably get a mechanic or better a mechanic friend to listen and look at it.

They can do tests like for compression.

Hopefull since it is pretty old you've just got an exhaust leak.

Can you get a recording with it idleing and no AC or anything on?

^^^ mostly sounds like an exhaust leak where the header connects to the exhaust ports on the engine...just need a new gasket. if not that then it still sounds like an exhaust leak like from a huge rust hole somewhere inthe exhaust or catalytic converter. get under your car and look around.

I had the flexpipe section where the downpipe meets the catalytic converter on my car form a hole. :no:

The squeeking sounds like a loose belt. Have you ever had the car serviced? Problems like that don't happen over night; that car has been run into the ground.

if people are saying it's extaust.

when the car is running put your hand over the exit pipe at the back of the car.

you should feel it trying to push your hand away. it may not and you may hear it come out of another place.

don't do it for long do it for a few seconds.

best way to maintain the engine is, a regular service a change of oil, new cam belt (if it has a cam belt) new spark plugs. new HT leads and cap stuff like that

Yeah, it's not good, but seems like you guys didn't hear any BIG engine problems. If you guys about Exhause leak is right, it shouldn't be too expensive, right?
