Apple Software Coupon

I got this card with my Mac Mini, saying "Software Coupon - iLife '04 + Mac OS X v10.3".

What can I actually do with this? and how would I use it? - at an Apple store or send it off?

I always wondered myself what they were for. I THINK that they are for proof that you have iLife 0X' or something.

I think it's just a proof of purchase for registration or something.

they can serve multiple purposes. if a new software version is released within X ammount of time, you are entitled to a free to reasonably priced upgrade. This is your proof of purchase.

In the old days, it was for free items like mouse pads...etc...

no, its probably just a proof of purchase. apple has never had coupons.

So...my understanding is that you could POSSIBLY get Tiger at a slight discount...I just got my mini a week ago, so I should be good for that.

EDIT: I just read something on Apple's site that implies that the coupons are used for warrenty work, also. Though, I don't see how that would work, as there is no purchase date on them.

I asked the same question when I got my PowerBook (1.5GHz new ones) as soon as they were announced (Feb 1). I don't see a point with these coupons but it might come in handy in future.

Yes if Apple said that the Up-to-Date program covered the time you bought the Mac mini. I doubt it t:(u :( You could always ho:p. :p

I don't think so. Every month, Apple sends me an ecoupon for 30 dollars off every 300 dollars or higher. You have to register your Apple product and keep them sending update and promotion.

They were used in the past to obtain x.x.x releases on CD for those who were not on broadband. They used to offer the updates on CD's at Apple dealers. I'm not sure if they still do that.

I don't think you will be able to quality for the uptodate program though. Don't take my word for it though.

Those of you who know for sure that you will not qualify for that program, you could always take advantage of that discount coupon Amazon is offering for pre-orders.

I think with my student discount I get it even cheaper then what Amazon is selling it for. $79?
