I'm having trouble getting a Brother HL-1030 to work with our SBS 2003 installation. As Windows 2003 doesn't allow kernel mode printer drivers to install, you can't install Brother's own drivers without a registry hack, and even with that hack the driver doesn't work properly without crashing all the time.

I've tried loads of the other Brother laser drivers that come with 2003, but none of them seem to work, either printing an incomplete or blank page. Can anyone suggest an alternative driver that will work with this printer with 2003?

Brother's website doesn't seem to have a whole heap of information, other than a supposed fix that although it allows you to install their driver, it still doesn't work right.

Try using drivers for Windows XP or 2000.

That's just the problem, you can't as they are kernel mode and will not install with 2003. You can get them to install using a registry hack, but they don't work anyway. The only real way seems to be to use a Win2003 driver (ie one that is supplied on the CD, as Brother do not provide one) but I can't find one that'll do the job.
