recommend router brands

first time actually recommending and suppling a router for core deisgn in a network.

The network is actually up and running but needs segmentation and so i need to introduce a router that has (or can have) 8 rj-45 lan interfaces. This will be a internal core router ONLY, so wan technologies would be just a wasted cost.

I have looked at 3com and cisco products, both seem to be too expensive.

the 3com 5682 router is very much on the track of what i am looking for. However it has been quoted to be for inbetween 6 and 7 grand. Too much for this design.

Anyone have ideas? on both price, brands, and perhpas better segemtation ideas?
