gfx card temperature

Is there any way to check the graphics card's (gf 6600gt) temperature from the console?

The sensor should appear under /sys/bus/i2c/devices/ or is it somewhere else (if anywhere at all)?

I think, though I dont remember and can't check right now...that if you install the Nvidia control panel which gives you the typical graphical interface for resolution and refreshrates that the Nvidia drivers in Windows does...it's in there.

Yeah that works indeed, but what I'm looking for is a way to show the temp value on torsmo, so I need to get that value from the console (if there's a way to do that directly) or at least learn where to look at if I had to code a little program to fetch that info myself :unsure:

PS: huh, now that I check that, nvidia-settings does have a command line interface. The problem is it does not only output the value but also some other crap... I'll have to look into that.

grep is a wonderful tool. ;)

Indeed. I thought I would need grep to pick the line and then something else to keep just the number, but grep did all the job.
